Railway design office / Railway engineering
Saïna applies its expertise as a railway design consultancy to critical rolling stock components.
Our scope of work covers all interior fittings (seats, ceilings, consoles, etc.) as well as strategic external sub-assemblies, such as front panels and arc protection housings.
More than just execution, we manage the entire development cycle. Design, numerical simulation, physical testing and technical documentation: we have expertise in every stage of the value chain. This technical rigour is evident in major programmes such as the Eurotunnel, the RER NG, the MF19 and the TGV 3UFC.
Drawing on our extensive experience, we are able to provide you with innovative, high-quality solutions tailored to your specific needs.
Railway interior design, railways and other forms of public transport
Design
Our railway design division transforms your technical requirements into products suitable for industrial production, whilst strictly adhering to your budgetary objectives.
This approach is underpinned by the rigorous application of industry standards. Whether it be welding standards (EN 15085) or bolted joints (NF F 25-030), compliance is at the heart of our design work from the very first sketch.
Steel, stainless steel, aluminium, as well as Zamak and SMC composites: we utilise a wide range of materials and processes. This versatility enables us to direct technical choices towards the most appropriate solution. You thus receive an optimised product that balances operational reliability with controlled production costs.
Calculation and numerical simulation
Our expertise in numerical simulation ensures the validation of your railway sub-assemblies, from interior fittings to structural components.
Regulatory rigour dictates each of our calculation assumptions. When dimensioning a seat or a storage compartment, we strictly apply the load cases defined by the EN 12663 (Structure) or NF F 31-119 standards.
But the analysis goes beyond simple global stress. We verify the integrity of each critical connection: validation of welds in accordance with the essential EN 15085 standard or detailed verification of bolted joints (VDI 2230, NF F 25-030). Your supporting documentation thus becomes a robust tool for certification.
Physical Validation
No matter how accurate it may be, numerical simulation often has to stand up to the test of reality in order to obtain final certification.
Our physical validation campaigns then take over to confirm the assumptions made in the calculations. Whether it’s impact testing, endurance cycles or vibration spectra, we put your external equipment (casing, chassis) through its paces to the very limits.
When it comes to interior fittings, the method is just as rigorous. Seats and mountings are subjected to static and dynamic loads that faithfully replicate the accelerations experienced by rolling stock in service. A crucial step that transforms a theoretical calculation into a qualified product.
Our Expertise in the Railway Sector
Saïna’s core strength lies in a highly specialised field: railway mechanical engineering, combining pure design with advanced numerical simulation.
Far from offering off-the-shelf solutions, we tailor every technical solution to ensure it perfectly meets your specific requirements. This flexibility enables us to cover the entire development cycle.
From the initial feasibility sketch to the final set of working drawings, we apply our expertise in CAD (Computer-Aided Design) to bring your most complex mechanical systems to life.
We design multifaceted products that successfully transform conceptual ideas into production-ready products, meeting your requirements. Our approach, based on computer-aided design (CAD) combined with numerical simulation (FEA), enables us to develop robust products whilst taking into account constraints relating to weight, cost and assembly.
With a constant focus on optimising service and quality, Saina also offers technical support within your design offices, whether for short-term or part-time periods. These on-site visits aim to take your internal working methods into account in order to optimise the quality of deliverables for fixed-price projects.
